California’s Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, has put together an advisory committee to help provide input as California moves to develop and implement a HAVA-compliant statewide voter registry. This is from today’s Capitol Morning Report:
Secty. of State Debra Bowen has announced appointments to the VoteCal Advisory Committee which will make recommendations on “the design of California’s state-of-the-art voter registration database.” Bowen named to the committee: Michael Alvarez, California Institute of Technology; Rosalind Gold and Efrain Escobedo, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund; Alice Huffman and Velma Sykes, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, California State Conference; Eugene Lee, Asian Pacific American Legal Center; John Longoria, Disability Rights Legal Center; Karin MacDonald, UC Berkeley Institute for Governmental Studies; Rebecca Martinez, Madera County County Clerk-Recorder; Conny McCormack, Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk; Trudy Schafer, League of Women Voters of California; David Tom, San Mateo County Elections Division Manager.
