California election updates: Attorney General race decided, other news

News reports this morning state that Kamala Harris has set up news conferences today to declare victory in the California Attorney General’s race. This has been one of the closest statewide elections in California history. This race saw the lead change a number of times in the weeks following the election, and in a situation atypical in most California statewide races, Los Angeles County was ground zero for both the campaign and the post-election ballot counting.

Also later today, the first eight members of the new California redistricting commission will hold their first meeting. This meeting is to start the process that the original eight will use to pick the next six members of the commission.

And on a lighter note, a 100-year old woman was honored yesterday as California’s oldest pollworker.
