NIST workshop on voting system threats

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is planning a workshop on threats to voting systems. Currently they are accepting proposals for those wishing to participate through September 16, 2005. The goal of the workshop is to “develop and disseminate an analysis of threats to voting systems. Examples of such voting systems include Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) systems, systems using voter verified audit trail technology, optical scan voting systems, and ballot marking devices.” Might be an interesting event to attend, especially as it appears that NIST is planning on using input from this workshop for future development of security and usability voting system standards.
