The discussion about the problems with spoiled ballot papers in the recent Scottish parliamentary elections continued over the weeked. There was a good BBC story which showed graphically some of the ballot paper problems, and which noted that the problems came from three primary sources: ballot counting software that could not understand some human errors, protest votes, and simple voter confusion and errors.
