Hart buys Farragut Systems, a GIS firm

This little tidbit was forwarded to me, it appeared in the Austin American Statesman’s business section:

Hart InterCivic buys Farragut Systems

Hart InterCivic Inc., an Austin-based provider of electronic voting and records management systems, is buying Farragut Systems Inc., which develops geographic information systems software for local governments.

Hart InterCivic CEO Gregg Burt said the purchase will allow the company to integrate its technology with the geographic information systems of local government customers and offer new services.

Farragut will continue to operate in Lafayette, Colo., and will focus on land use, taxation, utilities and transportation.

Hart InterCivic will focus on public records and elections.

It will be interesting to see if this acquisition allows Hart to develop GIS applications for election administration.
